Lucas Connor is a NYC-based visual artist from Ann Arbor, Michigan. Raised on cartoons, comic books, and the works of timeless illustrators such as Mo Willems and Maurice Sendak, he sees the world through bold color, iconography, and imagination.

Since childhood, Connor has always felt a kinship toward the irregular; he is fascinated by grotesque images, and the rarely revered symbols of this world. His work often features characters with blood-shot eyes, or beads of sweat; Among these unwell faces and their shiny skin, there is a deep love hidden in Connor’s work for the things we consider “ugly.”

On one end, Connor’s work is characterized by a visceral attention to detail. On another, his pieces are made distinct by an almost stunning simplicity. He works by hand and digitally, building iconography that feels both immediate and enduring.

Commissions: portraits, tattoo designs, cartoons/illustrations, and more. Hand-drawn and digital deliverables available.
