Portrait by: Sarah Coleman

Lucas Connor is a NYC-based visual artist from Ann Arbor, Michigan. Raised on cartoons, comics, and children’s books, he sees the world through bold color, iconography, and imagination.

Since childhood, Connor has always felt a kinship toward the irregular; he is fascinated by grotesque images, and the rarely revered symbols of this world. His work often features characters with blood-shot eyes, or beads of sweat; Among these unwell faces and their shiny skin, there is a deep love hidden in Connor’s work for the things we consider “ugly.”

On one end, Connor’s work is characterized by a visceral attention to detail. On another, his pieces are made distinct by their simplicity. He works by hand and digitally, building iconography that feels both immediate and enduring.

Commissions: portraits, tattoo designs, cartoons/illustrations, and more. Hand-drawn and digital deliverables available.
